MOSQUITO CONTROL
Some people may think all mosquitoes are the same, but there are actually 40 varieties that can be found in the North Carolina area alone and up to 3,500 species worldwide. That’s a lot of bloodsuckers! Some of the most common North Carolina species include:
Aedes Aegypti, which can fly up to half a mile.
Anopheles, which can fly up to two miles.
Culex, which can fly up to 5 miles.
No See-ums, which are too tiny to see with the naked eye but can cause annoying bites on the ankles and feet.
Damage Caused By Mosquitoes
Mosquitoes can spread any of the following serious diseases:
Zika Virus, West Nile Virus, Malaria, Dengue
Yellow Fever, Western Equine Encephalitis, Chikungunya,
Pet diseases, such as heart-worm in dogs
TREATING MOSQUITOES
Mosquitoes grow from an egg to an adult in less than two weeks. When you stop to consider that a female can lay up to 300 eggs at once, it’s easy to see how the current mosquito population could quickly cause an even bigger problem. They can breed in standing water or sometimes moist debris, so preventative measures can be effective in lowering their numbers. These preventative measures involve maintaining your property and altering areas that attract standing water such as old buckets, low points in the ground, HVAC condensation containers, drainage pipes, and other problematic sources of moisture.
